    I tried to install the latest update by choosing "Update and Restart" in the power menu. My PC then just restarted without updating anything and started to behave weird.Now every time I click "Shutdown" or "Restart" it takes a solid minute or two until my PC actually shuts down or restarts. Additionally after starting it also takes a minute or two until the taskbar is fully working, displays everything Ethernet and Audio Icons are missing and not clickable.However the shutdown and start process itself work normally from Off to Windows Login Screen and In Windows to Off.Windows Update also

    :)

    Latest updates broke windows shares... Argh!

    I gave up long ago trying to solve that problem. Instead I have created shortcuts to access each computer on my network. As long as the computer is turned on and awake I can always access it this way. Step 1: Create folder on desktop call My Network

    Step 2: In that folder create shortcuts to each computer on network. Note each computer must be turned on and awake to create the shortcut to it.

    Windows XP update and internet Issue

    Microsoft has been shutting down some of their XP update server to prepare for the end of life of XP. That means that if your ISPs DNS servers are slow at updating then you will be trying to use servers that no longer exist.

    I suggest you download the latest XP roll-up disc, it will have most of the updates you need and I also suggest hard coding a Google DNS as your primary DNS in your router.

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
