    Latest update, “system interrupts” taking 100% CPU

    After my laptop did the most recent update, it’s been unbelievably slow. It freezes just transitioning from the startup screen to the PIN login screen. If I manage to get in, it takes up to 30 minutes for icons to load on the desktop and taskbar. Apps then struggle to open, etc. Using CTRL+Shift+Esc fails to open the Task Manager. Or it takes so long I’ve never waited enough. CTRL+ALT+Del takes 5+ minutes to open the Security screen. One time, I booted up and managed to immediately open the Task Manager, and it showed “System interrupts” taking up 100% of the CPU. After about 15 minutes, thi

    System Interrupts 100% CPU

    Hello iheb.zanina, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that the "System Interrupts" process is consuming 100% of the CPU;

    What exactly is your laptop model and manufacturer?

    Initially I recommend that you access the manufacturer's website and update all available drivers;

    Make sure you are up to date with the latest version of Windows 10;

    Press Windows key + i and access Update and Security;

    Click Check for updates and do ALL pending updates;

    run a disk cleanup;

    Press Windows key + R and type: cleanmgr press Enter;

    Click on clean system files and wait for the files to load;

    Select all files and click ok to delete them;

    Perform a clean boot;

    Press together the keys: Ctrl + Shift + Esc to access the task manager;

    Click on start and disable all programs that start with Windows;

    Restart the PC and check if the "System Interrupts" process still consumes 100% of the CPU;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!

  3. System Interrupts using 30 - 100% CPU

    Hi Bradley. I'm Greg, an Independent Advisor here to help until this is resolved.

    1) See fixes for System Interrupts causing high CPU usage:

    https://blog.pcrisk.com/windows/12795-system-in...

    2) Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed
    in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

    Then type System Information in Start Search, compare the latest BIOS/UEFI firmware version with the one showing in System Information, and install it following closely the instructions on the download page, and on any Read Me file included in download.

    Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

    3) Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

    Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 17 to test a new Local Admin account. Then if necessary
    continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

    4) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version,
    and solves most problems.

    I hope this helps. Based on the results you report back I may have other suggestions if necessary. If you will wait to choose whether the problem is resolved, then I will continue to help until the problem is fixed.
