Installing windows 10 pro 64 bit on new PC

I realize that can only update win 8.1 pro 32 bit to

win 10 pro 32 bit , which I have done on old PC

But is there is a way to do a clean install to win 10 pro 64 bit on new PC?

If I had bought win 8.1 pro 64 bit instead would this be the case that

I could do a clean install to win 10 pro 64 bit on new PC?

Unfortunately I thought I had to buy a 32 bit win 8 pro as had 32 bit Vista

but did not know I had a 64 bit CPU so I should have bought win 8.1 pro 64 bit instead. Since my new PC has 16G RAM I have to get the 64 bit version

or only access 3.2G RAM max.

    Hi there

That's the right one -- do all the updates too.

BTW Office 2016 / Office 365 if you have those have been updated a few times too so if you have an old install update that product too after W10 updated.

There's a later version of Office 2016 for the Insider program BTW.

    Cheers

  6. Thanks Jimbo... But I don't use any MS Office products now ..
I use Libre Office, and have done for years. After retiring from my work at a large international corporation where we used all MS products, licensed to, and paid for by the company, I lost my right to use MS Office products, and switched to Libre Office in my private capacity. I have been very happy with Libre Office over the years

Although it apparently installed OK, I did catch it in the act and it seemed to duplicate everything. Not being happy with this I rolled back a few days to before the last cumulative update and this time it installed correctly.
