Latest Windows 10 update (1903) blue screens when I connect thunderbolt display

I'm running Windows 10 Pro via Bootcamp on a 2015 Macbook Air 7.2 and have done so for the last 4 years. Occasionally over this time, following a major update, windows has blue screened every time I connect my LG widescreen thunderbolt 2. display. This has typically been fixed by reinstalling the bootcamp assistant software for windows and then restarting the machine, but with the latest update (1903) this doesn't work. This is my work laptop so I've restored to the previous version of windows that works with my display (1709 Build 16299.1087) so I can continue to work. We have 6 x LG 34UC98 in the office and I've tried connecting to other screens with the same issue. All LG screens drivers are installed.

This morning upon startup, I was forced into the update and after two and a half hours updating, I plugged in the thunderbolt display and it instantly crashed. I reinstalled the latest bootcamp assistant software but to no avail. I'm now restored back to version (1709) so I can use the laptop and use the work display. The stop code that's registered is: SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED.

This obviously isn't ideal as I'm now in a position where I can't turn off the laptop in fear that I'll be forced into another two plus hours round of updates, only to have to restore it again.

Any help on moving this forward and getting a functional update installed would be much appreciated.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Update 1709 Blue Screens with Thunderbolt SSDs.

Hello. I am currently running Windows 10 version 1703 on an 2013 Apple 27" iMac via Bootcamp. I have an external Thunderbolt SSD connected. This works very well. However, Windows keeps trying to update to version 1709. When this happens, the computer
blue screens with a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. I have isolated this issue to the external Thunderbolt device. If I unplug the Thunderbolt, the update completes successfully. But when I plug the Thunderbolt devices back in, Windows will no longer boot, again
    blue screening with the MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

I have to disconnect the Thunderbolt drive to get Windows to boot, then roll back the install to 1703 for the computer to be usable again with the Thunderbolt device.

    Any suggestions?
