Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

    Hello Wrkeen,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Forums.

I understand that you are experiencing multiple apps and performance issue on your Windows 10 computer recently just after a restart.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better:

    • Do you have any third party security software installed on your computer?
    • Have you checked if there is any pending update?
Just for diagnosis purposes we can check reproducing the issue in Safe Mode/
Safe Mode With Networking. If it works fine in Safe mode with networking, it's clear that either some third party program, or some incompatible hardware drivers are causing this performance issue.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Safe mode is a diagnostic mode that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started.

You may refer the wiki article to boot the computer in safe mode or safe mode with networking

    Redirecting

Step 2: If the issue does not appear in Safe mode, uninstall graphics card driver, network driver etc. and install latest driver from manufacturer website.

You may refer the wiki article below to update drivers.

How to install or uninstall drivers in Windows 10

    Redirecting

    Method 2:
Uninstalling third party security software (if any) may also help us in getting this issue resolved.

Follow the steps below to disable security software temporarily.

On your Computer screen Task Bar next to System Clock, you will see the third-party Security Software Icon.

    • Click on the third-party Security Software Icon, you will see a pop up.

    • In that pop and select the option to disable, click on it.
Check the tablet performance after disabling the third party security software.

Important Note:Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus
software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope this helps. Please let us know the results, feel free to write us back for any further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.
