Windows 10: Latest Windows Updates: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

I have a Toshiba Satelite running Windows 10 64 bit. After the most recent windows updates the laptop will boot, run for about 2 minutes (very slow) and then go to a Blue Screen of Death with a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.


I have read many articles and have attempted the following with no ability to correct the issue:

• Ran chkdsk /r /f (system rebooted and ran check disk without reporting any issues)
• Ran sfc /scannow, no issues reported
• Found several posts surrounding the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers driver, I attempted to set the driver to Standard SATA AHCI Controller, this did not correct the issues (also, I'm running an original spinning drive, NO SSD)
• Found several post on the Intel Chip Set and CPU speeds for cooling purposes, I changed the power management settings to High Performance so no chip speed adjustments would be made
• Ran Windows Updates again (which is really how this problem started) no updates are available
• I attempted to "reset windows" which I assume is a reinstall of key windows components, no luck
• I've looked at a few of the minidump files, there is no clear answer, they appear to point to ntoskrnl.exe which could be a LOT of things
• I attempted to run in "Safe Mode" and the laptop does run without failure so I assume a driver issue but cannot isolate the appropriate fix

For whatever reason this laptop does not easily got into "Safe Mode", none of the F Keys seem to invoke boot methods so its really hard to diagnose if I let it boot normally. If I let it boot normally it's so slow I can barely use any Windows utilities because it's so slow and ultimately goes to a blue screen before I get my diagnostic information from the system.


Where do I start to methodically diagnose the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It is possible that the error DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION may occur if the iastor.sys driver is incompatible with Windows 10. To isolate your issue, we'd like to gather more information:

• Have you made any recent changes before this issue occurred?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Any response will be highly appreciated.

 

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Blue screen: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

After a recent updating, my machine has blue screen every 5 - 10 minutes.

The error code is DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

I saw another post here which suggest to use "iastor.sys". But I don't have that in the driver list. Mine is storahci.sys.
