Windows 10: Launch Snip and Sketch app, not screenshot mode

Hi all,

We have Windows set up for a work environment with customised start menus, and notifications disabled. We created a shortcut to the new Snip and Sketch app with the "%windir%\explorer.exe ms-screenclip:" method and it launches fine, screenshots are saved to the clipboard. But because notifications are blocked to the user that's it, there's no interface to do anything else or any prompt they can paste into a document etc.


Does anyone know how to launch directly to the app to get the full interface, as in attached image? As an admin I can just click it off the start menu. I basically just need to copy what is on the standard start menu to a custom shortcut. Thanks in advance.

Snip and Sketch Awkward

Use Windows+shift+s to launch Snip and Sketch. Can snip a screenshot.

Now the problem is this: after snipping the screen shot, it does not automatically appear in the Snip and Sketch app. So I open Snip and Sketch and there's nothing on it.

So I have choose 'new' and snip the screen yet again.

I recall using this once and taking a screenshot and voila! Snip and Sketch appeared with the screen shot duly in the app's workspace, ready for annotations and saving etc. This facility has disappeared. I have re-set it according to instructions, and even
reinstalled it - yet the problem persists.

Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

 

Opening Screenshots in Snipping Tool/Snip & Sketch

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

The behavior you see is expected-Now taking screenshots would automatically copy them to the clipboard and would not open a new Window like happened with snipping tool.

A notification, should generate however to open the editor if needed. See the screenshot.

A better way would be to open Snip and Sketch app using app and select New Snip.

Snip & sketch

Go to the Store, click on the 3 dots near your picture, My Library, Scroll down and see if Snip & Sketch is on the list. If it is at the right is it Install or Launch.
