We have some *.exe and a lot of *.dll win32 files on shared directory for remote launch and launch them several 50-100 times a day.

At first it works fast, but after a week usage it became may be 10 or 100 times slower and sometimes paused for some seconds.

At first idea was bad HDD, but we change HDD, try SSD, but after a week it became slow too.

Copying of files not only executing from this directory became slow too.

If I do it localy it is slow even if files already in cache/memory and there is no reading from disk.

But if i copied files to enother directory in the same shared resource, launching will be fast at first and slow after a week.

Reinstalling Windows make it fast for a week.

It is not fragmentation, because directory written once and because cached files slowed two.

System became slow smoothly. At fist it is hardly seen, then slower and slower.

Important thing, that network has no connection to Internet.

I have seen this problem on Windows10 and servers 16 and 19 several times , but never on Windows7.

    What can it be???

    :)

slow desktop when launching a program?

    Hi Shan,

There are several reasons why this issue occurs. This could be a possible system conflict. For us to better assist you, we need to ask you a few questions. Please answer the following information:

    • Can you send us a screenshot of your available memory and memory usage?

In the meantime, we suggest that you perform a
    clean boot
to start your device using a minimal set of driver and startup programs. It will also help us identify what conflict is causing this slow performance.

We're looking forward to your response.

  3. slowness in computer usage.

    Hi John,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I appreciate if you could answer a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?

    • What makes you think that system is running slow? Is it when you are trying to run application?

    • Did you install any third party security application?
From the screenshot that you have provided, I understood that it’s not the issue with the disk usage. The slowness might be due to the memory usage.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to run maintenance task and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows key + X from the desktop.

    • Select Control panel and Select System and Security.

    • Click on Troubleshoot common computer problems under System and maintenance.

    • Now Run maintenance task under
      System and security
      .
Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.

    Resource usage overlay!

Hey guys, so I'm looking for a program that lets me have an overlay showing system resource usages. If it shows FPS then that's a plus in my book.

    Any advice?
