Windows 10: Lenovo laptop - replacement motherboard/cpu...but hard drive not working

Hi, I replaced my laptops motherboard/cpu as like for like. However, on start up, I get a blank screen and the hard drive whirs for a few seconds and then stops. Nothing else. Just blank screen.The hard drive shows up in Bios and it works as I've connected it externally to another laptop.I'm not sure what to do as I can't get into safe mode or troubleshoot etc.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

Replacing the Motherboard/CPU and the Hard Drive

If you are replacing your motherboard you will probably need to purchase a new Windows 10 licence as your digital entitlement (which is stored on a Microsoft server, not on a chip) is tied to your motherboard.

It is OK to replace a hard drive or other devices, but the motherboard requires a new licence as it is essentially a new PC!

When Windows 8 was released, I bought 2 licences for Laptop and desktop to upgrade from Windows 7. Later both upgraded to Windows 8.1. I upgraded both to Windows 10 last August. Now, due to motherboard fault, I need to replace the motherboard, and would
like to take the opportunity to change the cpu from AMD to Intel, therefore needing to change motherboard and CPU. I will be using the original hard-drive with the Window 10 OS. What issues will I have on rebooting after the change? If a big problem, I
can just replace the mothboard, but would really like to replace both.

Replacing a laptop hard drive with a SSD

I have a Dell Latitude E5420 laptop which has a Windows 10 Pro O/S. I would appreciate a step by step guide on the procedure to replace the hard drive with a Solid State drive; specifically dealing with the transfer of all the software from the old drive to the new. I have an external hard drive I use for backups and a free version of the Macrium Reflect program on the hard drive. The SSD is brand new. I have just 50 GB in total on the 231 GB hard drive. The SSD has 250 GB capacity.
