Windows 10: Lenovo Legion Y530 screen flickering/repeated booting to login screen after updates two...

So, my laptop had a bunch of updates it installed on 3/18. Afterwards, it would boot to the login screen, but flickering the whole time. Occasionally I can get my password entered quick enough to log in. However, at best I see my desktop for a second or two before the screen goes black and when it comes back on, it’s back at the password screen.

List of things I have tried:

• safe boot (same thing happens)
• reset w/ keeping files (it throws an error halfway through, saying it cannot be completed and no changes made)
• restore point (none exist)
• various scans from command line

It almost feels like if I could just disable the login screen, it would have nothing to boot me back to and I could log on long enough to maybe uninstall a driver update or something. The problem is I’m not super savvy so I don’t know what driver or update may be the issue, or if it even is either of those. I assume a graphics driver. Could it be something loose mechanically?

The closest I had was a safe boot w/ command line. I was able to log in for maybe 10 minutes without it going black. I did some scans but eventually it booted me back to the login.

My best option right now is something from the command line since I can get to that easily from the repair options screen. So if there are any suggestions of things I can try from there I’d appreciate it!

As I said I’m desperate for help. I’m trying to avoid a full reset as I have a few files I want to save but I’m starting to think it may come down to that.

• What is the make and model of you computer?
• Do you see any error message/code flashing when the screen turns black?

This issue could be caused due to the outdate drivers on your computer updating the drivers may fix the problem for you.

If would suggest you to try using another mouse and check if you are able to login, if the keyboard is functioning fine you can use Tab key to navigate to different options on login screen to enter your password to sign in to your computer.
