Windows 10: Lenovo microphone not functioning after windows 11 update

I have a client with a Lenovo R25f-30. The realtek audio worked perfectly until a windows 11 update and now the microphone won't work. Is there a possibility that the windows update has installed a driver that is incompatible with the Lenovo realtek driver?

Sennheiser GSP 350. Microphone stops working when I open any game

Wow, ok. I think I've fixed it by accident while fiddling around.

It appears to be the Realtek audio being the issue here. I don't use my onboard sound card as my headset is a USB headset only and my speakers are plugged into an ASUS sound card.

Step by step fix:

• I went into recording devices
• I enabled STEREO MIX (Realtek High Definition Audio)
• Then I set that Stereo Mix as the DEFAULT DEVICE (At this point it took over both input and output devices without my permission )
• Then set my Sennheiser headset as default recording and playback devices in their respective windows even though they both still said they were the default devices when they weren't

Headset microphone is currently functioning while in game now. I'll update the thread if it goes again. Should I completely disable Realtek audio??? Or will windows just force it to work again?

Hi, Sam.

Try this first:

1. Press Fn + Esc.
   
2. Can you see a blue light on Esc key? Can you see on the screen the word FnLock written without a diagonal risk?
   
3. If yes to any of both questions, press F4 to check your mute behavior.
   

If the test succeds, you may want to follow the steps below to make it become permanent:

1. Open Lenovo Vantage.
   
2. Go to Input & Accessories.
   
3. Go to Intelligent Keyboard.
   
4. Find Keyboard top-row function.
   
5. Mark Special Function instead of F1-F12 Function.
   
6. Test again your F4 for the mute command.
   
7. Restart the computer and test again the keys behavior.
