    Lenovo T450s WLAN card causes a boot on a cable modem


    Setup: Lenovo Thinkpad T450s w/latest BIOS & drivers and a Sagemcom FAST3686v2 EuroDOCSICS3.0 compliant cable modem.


    Problem: The cable modem boots (lights down, re-starting) every time when WLAN connection is started on the laptop. Actually, the cable modem boots similarly when re-booting the laptop w/the WLAN card on. And no connection established yet.


    Tests so far: 4 separate cable modems, three v2, one v1. This is ISP's only model for cable modem. Same behavior w/T440s, but HP's 840 G2 works fine.

    1. As a matter of fact (I didn't want to overburden troubleshooters thoughts) the T440s act similarly causing a reboot on the cable modem. The T450s does the same, but not if connected via a simple 4 port switch.

    2. Yes, as soon as I connect to the cable modem over WLAN, the cable modem boots. At best it'll take a few - maybe 15 seconds. And the cable modems repeats this action over and over and over again.

    One thing though - the T450s also causes a boot on the cable modem whenever booting the laptop. This, even with the WLAN card disabled.

    Hi Petri,

    This is definitely an odd issue; I just want to try to understand the issue.

    1. When you the T450 and T440 are connected via a network cable this works fine and the cable modem does not reboot?

    2. As soon as you connect to the cable modem using a WLAN connection the cable modem reboots? When it comes back on does it still allow the WLAN connection or does it just keep rebooting perpetuity?
