Windows 10: Less Updates Please

Well, my two cents .......... As far as more or less updates are concerned I'll take the updates anytime. Yes, sometimes it does get annoying putting in megabyte after megabyte every month, but the added security is worth it to me. Your mileage may vary of course.

 

I'm with you there, I'd rather have the updates and know it means that Microsoft are keeping on top of the security, it is only once a month usually so no real hardship. *Wink

 

I use a StarTech device for cloning identical drives. My drives are all SSD and operate outboard of the computer box. The StarTech device is stand alone. Perfect every time.

Maybe but the info in post is quite out of date, so not really relevant anymore.

Also did a quick search for startech cloning device and look pretty expensive when you can buy a usb caddy for only a few $.

 

This does a sector by sector copy. As I run more than one OS on the drive, most cloning software (ala USB devices) will fail to clone the entire drive (they fail when hitting various partitions), I chose the StarTech.

 

That may have been true a while back, but modern packages like Macrium Reflect Free, Easus Todo, Acronis Trueimage all do smart sector copying now (particularly with EUFI pcs), and can clone anything practically nowadays. It happily clones linux partitions for example.

The days when they were predominantly file based are long gone.
