Don't give up yet , i went through a lot more frustration than that , i reinstalled 7 times already , no joke . Yes, i am missing a few marbles , no sane person would suffer that much but i have a lot of free time.

At 65 years of age I am VERY stubborn. If I didn't like Windows 10 then I would be back to My Windows 7 Ultimate very quickly. *Smile

People do tend to become quite stubborn with age , actually every older gent i know is stubborn beyond words , i mean zero flexibility at all , zero , zip, nada , not gonna happen in this lifetime , forgettaboutit lol.

One thing i know , 65 is not old Mike , not even close , you know your old when you walk past a cemetery and two guys start chasing you with shovels , thats when your getting up there in age .

I had the same problem with the lock screen with the upgrade from Win 8.1 on my Desktop PC. That was the only issue I found and I didn't like it so I done a clean install from the USB stick and Win 10 Pro has been working fine and I could change the lock screen to whatever I want to. You may have had the same glitch I had with the upgrade. My Win 7 laptop upgrade went smooth and all worked great for a week and then it got real glitch with Facebook games. My wife uses the laptop for that and she insisted on going back to Win 7. She never had a glitch since lol. And I may add that the revert back to Win 7 was flawless. Maybe in the new year I will try Win 10 on the laptop *Smile
So far I am pleased with Win 10 Pro.

    cheers

Nope, I'm done. The problem now is the d**n thing is still in my updates and wants to reinstall when I do updates.......
Looking at the Ubuntu DVD I burned about a month ago to try on an older computer......... It's looking more appealing by the minute.

Oh and I almost forgot, needed updates to Quicktime and Samsung Magician to fully support Windows 10, but it isn't hurting me that they haven;t been updated.

Was really frustrated last night so did some more reading and found a program (app) to disable Microsoft's snooping, also realized all the problems I was having was Upgrade related and would not be a problem with a clean install. So have my security key ready, download the ISO and burn it, do a clean install and shazam! It's running like a top, no problems, random or otherwise, been reinstalling all my normal programs and configuring the OS the way I want it (as much as possible at this point).
Sooooo basically with most of the negatives and problems removed/disabled I find it's a little faster than 7 but not really all that much, boot time is about the same.

If you don't mind, what is the name of the program or its URL?

One thing to factor in is that immediately after installation, the computer spends quite a bit of time rebuilding indexes, and I believe the Installer also spends time trying to compress updates (although there shouldn't be too many of these). So you may find the peak speed is achieved when it was been run for a few days and settled down.

My Windows 10 boots 10 times faster than 7 Did with the same hardware. It used to take ~2 minutes to boot 7. now Windows 10 boots in less than one minute.
