Windows 10: LG Slim Portable DVD Writer Recognized But Won't Play DVD's

LG Slim Portable DVD Writer, Model: SP80NB80; Manufactured May 2017; Rom Ver: RC00

As short as I can make it, I bought it from Amazon.com and had it shipped to me while deployed. I connected it to my Microsoft Surface Pro 4. I can't remember if it came with a drive disk to install. It worked fine, read, and played DVD's. I got home and I recently reset my computer to factory default prior to using the drive (Settings>Update & Security>Reset This PC>Remove Everything). I'm not sure if resetting may have affected anything. I tried using it twice now, after the fact. The computer shows it's connected/recognizes the drive. I insert a DVD, which I was able to play movies using it before. When I insert a DVD now, it reads the DVD, and then the drive disappears/will no longer appear/be recognized under "This PC." When I remove the DVD, the drive shows up/is recognized again. I searched online for a drive installation (not sure of the name, firmware?) to download with no success. What can I do and/or what have I done?

LG Slim Portable DVD Writer & Windows 10

I have the external LG Slim Portable DVD Writer that is compatible to Windows 8 and recently downloaded Windows 10 to my Samsung laptop. Now my LG DVD Writer won't play any dvd's, the computer recognizes them and so does the VLC app but won't play it.
Do I have to buy another DVD Writer that is compatible with Windows 10?
