Windows 10: Licence key on new build

Apologies for probably what is an obvious answer.


I am thinking about building a new PC but with most cases these do not come with a dvd drive. If I download and create a bootable version of Windows is it then a case of just buying a version of Windows on disc and using the serial code from there? Cost wise there is a difference at times of buying the key direct from Microsoft so just trying to save a bit of money.


Never been down this route before so please excuse what is probably a dumb question to most of you

Reinstalling Windows 10 without a licence key

Hi,

I have a 10 year old laptop which originally was running Windows Vista. Due to the manufacturer date of the laptop, I was entitled to the free upgrade to Windows 7, which I kept until the roll-out of the Windows 10 upgrade. When my laptop upgraded to Windows
10, I did not pay for the upgrade and did not receive a licence key.

1. If I go to the Windows 10 download tool and select install with the 'keep Nothing during the upgrade' option, will I require a licence key?
   
2. Can I build the laptop from scratch if it was originally a Visa machine or will I need to step from Vista to 8.1 to 10?

I have bought a Windows 10 licence key.

Before the launch of Windows 10 I was receiving insider downloads. After the launch I bought a Windows 10 licence key. I had an email telling me that there is a new preview build. My question is can I download and install the new build and still have a fully
licenced Windows 10 or will downloading the new build invalidate the licence key that I purchased.
