Windows 10: lid close shuts down Pavilion laptop (eventhough settings say never)

Discus and support lid close shuts down Pavilion laptop (eventhough settings say never) in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance to solve the problem; When I close the lid, regardless of any advanced power settings telling it to do nothing, hibernate, sleep, etc, it will shut down.     lid close shuts down Pavilion laptop (eventhough settings say never)


    When I close the lid, regardless of any advanced power settings telling it to do nothing, hibernate, sleep, etc, it will shut down. I've looked this up and I can see a lot of people are having similar troubles, but I haven't had any solutions work. I've updated drivers, checked system, battery, users settings, etc.


    Just to emphasize, this is despite having the power settings set to make the laptop sleep when the lid closes- it will shut down. Despite being told to do nothing- it will shut down.

    Laptop does not shutdown when i click shutdown and close the lid, it sleeps instead.

    Hi Gan,

    This scenario happens when your Power Options is misconfigured. For us to have this isolated, we suggest that you follow these steps:

    • Click on Start.
    • Select Settings.
    • Click on System.
    • Select Power & sleep tab.
    • On the right side, click on Additional power settings.
    • On the left pane, select Choose what closing the lid does.
    • Under Power button and lid settings, click the drop down next to
      When I close the lid.
    • Select Shut down.
    • Click on Save changes button.
    • When you’re ready to make your PC shut down, close your laptop's lid.

    Note: Every time that you will close the lid, your laptop will automatically shut down.

    Let us know if you have other concerns.

    My laptop shuts down when i close the lid

    As the title says, when I close the lid on my laptop (windows 10) it shuts down, when I try to change it in Power options, "what happens when i close the lid" I have it set on "sleep" mode, but my laptop still shuts down after i close the lid. If I for instance
    move an object on my desktop to another place on the desktop and then close my lid, when I open the lid and the computer start from the beginning the same object that I've moved will be in the same place before i moved it. What do I do?
