Windows 10: Light stays on after shutting down.

Hello there,

My GTX Gaming G1 1070 and Corsair H100i v2 Liquid Cooler LED's stay on faintly even after turning off the computer. The GTX 1070 still fades in and out of different colours and the Liquid Cooler contains its white but faint light coming from the Corsair Logo. This all started to happen as I fitted my new H440 NZXT case. Also, another weird thing, If I turn on and off the computer and then leave it on in the mains, the next time I try to turn it on, the computer starts up but no display is shown. (also usually my G27 starts up and spins, does its usual calibration but that doesn't happen either) So I have to turn it off from the mains and then turn it back on for it to start up. Any help?

Battery Drain

It's because the laptop is not actually shut down despite shutting down. Does your power light stay on even after shut down? if so, it is using your power. Thus why, its drained. I force shut down my laptop. Still waiting for the fix mate.

 

Sometimes, LEDs just do that for devices that sense when power is available even when turned off. Doesn't sound worrisome to me. For example, on my Rosewill case, the power button LED blinks on and off slowly when the PC is hibernating or sleeping. As long as I don't physically disconnect the AC cable, various other device LEDs keep glowing as well.

But then, it doesn't start up after. Unless I turn it off from the mains.

 

OK, then. Is your PC sleeping, hibernating, or shut down when you see these LEDs? Could be something related to the various sleep states (S1 through S6, if memory serves) and some issue involved with sleep resume preventing proper startup thereafter. Lots of posts here on the forums about people having sleep and/or hibernation issues. For such things, the most productive response seems to be to use Power Options to turn off sleep altogether and then just to shut down the PC when not in use.

I just always simply shut it down. It didnt do it before I had the case so thats weird. Before i manually turned it on with a screwdriver as I had no case. Even flicking the switch off on the PSU and then back on doesnt reset whatevers causing it. I have to turn it off from the main wall plug.

Ill play around with the power options and see if anything helps.

 

I had something similar a while ago which was a BIOS issue. First load the BIOS defaults and see if that fixes the problem. Also, check your BIOS is up to date. You could also reflash the current BIOS if it is up to date to ensure there are no corruptions in the BIOS. Check your motherboard instructions before doing this.

 

Late reply, but power options didnt help and i dont really want to set bios to default as ive got it overclocked. I guess ill eventually do it if its the only solution.

 

Giving this post a kick in from the dead, as I've recently found out what the problem is. When taking out the plug for only the PSU, the PC still has power, how you may ask. Through the Display Port! Crazy right, I take that out, plug the PC back in and bang, it works again. But wont let me cold start the computer with the display port in. Which is really annoying. Have searched around but the only solution I've found is to have a cable that switches from DP to HDMI, which i don't want as i like my 144hz. So, any solution or help would be nice. *Smile

 

Thanks for following up: that's not something I've run into before. My guess is that this is unique or uncommon enough that an automated solution may be some while in coming. It won't be until more people have this problem that a fix will come in. For your sake I hope my guess is wrong, but...

Doesn't look good, it doesn't bother me, much. It's just that I want to find out how to fix this problem, without going for a HDMI.
