Windows 10: "Line In" bug that diverts all sound to michrophone input

I tried to connect my laptop to my tower both running windows 11 and when I connected the cable all audio from "Line In" seemed to be diverted to my microphone input, this appears to be a bug in Windows 11 because I had a similar setup in Windows 10 and the result was not the same.Any help?

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Line Input detected, windows/programs dont recognize sound but I hear it.

I've been recording audio all night through my line input on my motherboard (it has really good onboard sound). Under recording devices tab line-in was recognized and had the vu green bars moving showing me it knows there is sound coming in. I also have
'listen to audio through this device' enabled. however after restarting my pc NO programs OR windows see any input sound. The recording device still shows a line input is plugged in but no sound. If I disable the line input there is still my music playing
even if I uncheck listen to this device. It's almost acting like a passthrough to the front headphone output. How can I fix this, I changed no settings and only uninstalled an app that had NOTHING to do with audio.
