Windows 10: Line-in has disappeared and I am no longer able to receive or record audio through my...

Hi,


I have a Samsung RF711 running Win 10 and have always been able to record line-in signal into Audacity (or similar) but am no longer able to. In the 'Sound Devices' menu Line-In is no longer listed as an audio device; instead I have Realtek Microphone (the front mounted internal mic) and Realtek Microphone. The microphone is disabled (when it is enabled nothing changes). Realtek drivers are up to date.


When I try to record in Audacity (or other software) there is no option for Line-In or any variable which receives signal. The signal is coming from a KORG Volca Sample, sending sound which I have verified with a Sony speaker and headphones. The problem is Windows 10 not recognising Line-In. Please help.

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with recording. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your recording.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select
  Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel
• Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter

I suggest you to install all the latest audio and Display drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
