Windows 10: Link in internet browser will not open outlook

I'm in Microsoft Edge. I'm clicking on a site that says email us. I get no response when I click on the icon. Outlook should open but it doesn't. Anyhelp is appreciated.

Can't open Outlook links in Edge

In the meantime, we suggest that you reset Microsoft Edge. Kindly refer to the steps below:

• Open Microsoft Edge.
• Click on More options […].
• Click on Settings.
• Click on ‘Choose what to clear’.
• Select all of them and click on Clear all.

Automatic login to Outlook on launching Internet Explorer browser on Windows 10.

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

  Are you facing the login to Outlook on launching the browser issue since upgrade?

  Have you enabled Start with tabs from the last session option from
  Internet explorer settings?
  

Let me confirm that the URL link http://www.msn.com/?pc=EUPP_ is safe and a valid MSN link. The extension
part of the URL is automatically added as part of site redirection and nothing more.
Since the extension is safe and genuine to use, it is not necessary to remove the extension.



If the issue to login to Outlook on launching the browser is recent, I suggest you to change the
Internet Explorer settings by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• 
  Open Internet Explorer web browser and press
  Alt + X keys on the keyboard to open the browser settings.
  
• 
  Select Internet Options from the menu.
  
• 
  From the window, un-check Start with tabs from the last session under
  Startup option.
  
• 
  Click on Apply and OK.

  Close and open the browser to check if the changes are effective.

Outlook 2016 opening URL links

I have only ever noticed people reporting this for Outlook 2007 / 2010 - for which there is a recognised solution. I suggest searching around the Office online guidance [https://support.office.com and https://support.office.com/en-us/Sea...r+outlook+2016] to find an Outlook 2016 version of this -

You are prompted to specify Internet Explorer when you click a link in Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2007 - KB3094186

If you were to try to use the 2007/2010 solution, I would expect you to be able to substitute Chrome for IE in the line "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" %1 [para 6] but it would probably be simpler to use rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler %1 so that all you had to worry about checking was that Chrome was behaving correctly as the default browser.
