  1. Link User Data and Software to AD?

I work in IT and we hand out loaner laptops to employees fairly frequently. Loading up the software specific to each user and transferring all the data every time (from laptop to loaner, and some times from loaner to new laptop) can be a lengthy process.

I was wondering if there was a way to maybe link a users local data files and installed software to Active Directory so that when they signed into to their account on the domain, it would auto load and install their items.

I don't know if there is any existing third party software that could do this or if there is a way to make it myself. Any and all help is appreciated

    :)

  3. Lost data from hard drive, what to do now?

Well, I'm sorry to hear that it's a WD My Passport that failed on you, @tomhenry ! *Frown Link User Data and Software to AD? :(
I'd recommend you to try using a different USB cable with it and see if that will help your system to detect it without it disconnecting.
I'd also suggest you to go to Disk Management and see how the drive is listed there. It won't hurt to check up on the health and SMART status of the HDD by running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. Here's a link to the available software: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=11ZOpD

Give these troubleshooting steps a try and keep us posted with the results!

    Adding User Errors

    Hi,

The error message that you’ve encountered can be caused by an invalid or corrupted registry keys. You may also get the same error when your computer shuts down
unexpectedly. To learn more about your concern with adding a user, we’d like to ask the following questions:

    • Are you also getting the error when you add a user?
    • Were there any changes or updates made on your computer prior to the issue?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so for to resolve your concern?

In the meantime, we suggest that you run the System File Checker tool. This will scan and restore the corrupted system files on your device. Check this
    article
    for the steps.

    We’ll wait for your response.
