  1. Linking one drive on different devices

Hi,I have a desktop computer and Surface Pro laptop. I am using the same Microsoft Account on both devices. The Surface Pro is linked to my Desktop pc. However, OneDrive appears to be different on both devices and I am not sure why. When I open OneDrive, I want to be able to see identical contents. How can I do that?Thank you!

    :)

  2. Lost data from hard drive, what to do now?

Well, I'm sorry to hear that it's a WD My Passport that failed on you, @tomhenry ! *Frown Linking one drive on different devices :(
I'd recommend you to try using a different USB cable with it and see if that will help your system to detect it without it disconnecting.
I'd also suggest you to go to Disk Management and see how the drive is listed there. It won't hurt to check up on the health and SMART status of the HDD by running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. Here's a link to the available software: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=11ZOpD

Give these troubleshooting steps a try and keep us posted with the results!

Reenable drive in Device Manager Win 10

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

The particular issue can be due to faulty drivers. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Unplug the External drive.
    2. Go to device manager and uninstall the drivers (also check for hidden drivers).
    3. Restart your computer and plug the drive once again.
    4. The drivers should install again and you should be able to use the drive.

Just to confirm that the external drive is working, please try to use it in a different computer or plug it in a different port.

    Hope it helps.
