    live.co.uk - confusion.

Hi, I understand Windows Live Mail is to be removed. I don't use Windows Live Mail but my admin signing in is . . . . . . . @live.co.uk and always has been.
I've used this e-address without problem for many years for Windows 95 through to Windows 10 and it is also used currently without problem in W10 Mail.
A notice popped-up to say I need to change my sign-in credentials. Can anyone please advise if this is valid and legitimate due to the removal of Windows Live Mail or is it perhaps some malicious scam?
If genuine can someone please advise how to change my Admin Sign In Micro Soft Acc.
    Thank you,
    .

    :)

  2. can't use my windows live ID in windowsphone marketplace

I have a windows live ID @live.co.uk but a Dutch phonenumber, although my Zune account states the @live.co.uk as my live ID and I'm signed in on the windows phone site with that adress, I still can't download apps, because I'm not logged in with my live
ID. Can't I log into the Dutch marketplace with a live.co.uk address?

    live.co.uk - confusion.

WLMail isn't being discontinued (yet) but the delta sync protocol for MS accounts (Hotmail, Outlook & Live) is being, choices are use the mail app in Win 10, use another 3rd party email client, log onto the account via webmail or delete the account in WLMail & recreate it using imap & smtp server settings. You'll still not be able to sync MS calendar or contacts this way though.
Quite possibly a scam as the changeover is being put into practice by the end of June. If you hover your mouse over any links does it point to a genuine MS web address or a different one to which the link purports to visit?

Thanks Doctor9fan for your advice. However I'm still confused. I don't use WLM program now. I've used Windows 10 Mail since day 1. I'm using an old email address ending @live.co.uk and this only for dealings with Microsoft and for my Admin Acc in W10. (and all earlier versions)
99.9% of my mail is using a TT address using Thunderbird. My question is will my @live.co.uk e-address still be valid when logging in to my W10 computer or will I need to change my Microsoft Acc?
The request to change is on occasion coming via the W10 notification panel.
    Thank you.

  6. MS is changing Outlook.com to align sync with other MS messaging products.
    live.com/outlook.com - same thing.

Try visiting live.com.uk (or live.com if the top-level domain/country doesn't work) and enter your credentials (current eMail address & password)

If you can log onto web eMail, then your credentials are good. It might be enough to simply sign-on, but...
while you're there go through the options to check for any resets. I had to enable POP for my eMail client.

You said you use Outlook (Mail App), it should have set up as a sync client. I'm not sure if it did, but that's the area MS is changing. Make sure the App is up-to-date from the Store.

It might also be a matter of timing - either MS is lagging behind or you can simply wait a bit (my 1st account transition took over 30 minutes after enabling POP on Outlook.com)

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting you use POP. If you let the App auto-configure, then it's a sync protocol
I am suggesting that you run through the options on the web eMail.
Sorry - answered the wrong question.
Yes - your MS account should be fine.
Still you should Sign in to your Microsoft account - it might clear up the issue or it might ask you to verify the account.

Hi Slartybart, thank you for the detailed answer. To perhaps further clarify the situation I do have W10 Mail App set up and synchronised with Outlook Mail and I can access the Web Mail version. I did so within a few days of installing W10 and it imported all my folders etc without problem into the Mail App. As stated earlier I seldom actually use the @live.co.uk to send mail and basically keep it for My Acc purposes but it is used nevertheless. I also have my main TT email acc installed on the W10 Mail app and it also functions without any problem. To the final answer you gave - Yes the @live.co.uk is the one I use to identify and log in to W10 and if as you say it will still be valid then all should be well. I will however access both W10 Mail app and Web Mail and compose and send some @live.co.uk mail to ensure it still performs and I will also visit My Acc & profile to update as may be required.
It would have helped if Microsoft had made clear that finishing with WLM didn't make the e-address defunct.
Thanks once again, I'll report back within a day or two once I've completed the above action.
    Regards.

Thanks again, I did use your'link' to sign in and confirm my account - all ok. In addition I have successfully sent and received mail using my @live.co.uk address. So all looks well and I'll look out for the 'notification' to see if it reappears and this time attempt to capture the detail.
    Thanks.

  10. I just need a phone number to talk with a live person about a payment confusion

    in Microsoft Windows 10 Store
I just need a phone number to talk with a live person about a payment confusion: I had a PC for about 6 year and continued to pay for WORD on it. This PC "died" in the last week of July and I purchased a new one from Amazon. I noticed when I set it up on 8/1/19 that there was a 5 day (I think it was 5) time when you could try out the package. Since...
