Windows 10: Live Mail 2012 server has unexpedtedly terminated

Since moving to 10 I receive the following every time I open up Live Mail. "Your serer has unexpectedly terminated the connection."
Additionally up comes, "Windows Live Mail moving messages." This goes on for a long time. It eventually says, "the selected messages could not be found."

I have tried everything, can't find a solution. This didn't happen with 7. One search said change the mail setting from HTML to plain text. I tried that, didn't work.

Windows Live Mail doesn't connect

I'm using Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 10. I started getting the error message below:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (xxxxx) account. Header download for the 'Deleted' folder did not complete. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or
a long period of inactivity.

Server Response: AUTHENTICATE failed.

Server: 'imap-mail.outlook.com'

Secure(SSL): Yes

I get the same problem with Outlook 2013, but Outlook.com works. I have tried everything on this forum but continue to not being able to connect. Any ideas?
