Windows 10: "Living Images" stopped playing in PHOTOS

How to get PHOTOS to "play" Living Images again?PHOTOS opens a Living Image _Moment file to only the STILL picture instead of the 1-second Live-Image. The living.mp4 file is still in the JPG which works if extracted. So it's NOT the files. Also proving that it's NOT the files, PHOTOS behavior was different on two different PCs using the SAME exact physical files not copies via the network. After an MS update on the host PC, the same Living-Image JPG "_Moment" files did not "play" when opened with PHOTOS on that host, but the same file on the host did "play" correctly when accessed from a

Please verify these steps-

1. Have you set the 'living Image' option on the camera app to on?

2.Try capturing a living image and open it via the photos app and wait for a few seconds, does it play?

3.Try capturing a living image and open it via the photos app(On PC with windows 10) and wait for a few seconds, does it play?

4.Check if there are available app and system updates.

 

living images no longer playback in the Photos app

Hi,

I just noticed that the living images no longer playback while viewing the camera roll in the Photos app (on my Lumia 1520). Strangely, they playback OK if the camera roll is viewed from the Lumia Camera Classic or Lumia Storyteller app. Currently, if I
open a camera roll photo (in Photos app), it shows static image, eventually static image with "Open in Lumia Camera Classic" link in left bottom corner.

I'm not quite sure if it's a side effect of the latest dev. preview I installed yesterday, or because I just today replaced the Nokia Camera with Lumia Camera Classic? Could it be a reason?

Steps to reproduce:

- take a photo with Lumia Camera Classic (make sure the Living Images are enabled!)

- still in the camera app, switch to camera roll >> living images from the last taken photo should be played OK

- now press the Home button and start the Photos app

- go to the camera roll and try to view the last taken photo >> no living images played

The issue could occur if the extension of the file name is change while transferring the file.

To assist you better, please provide the information:

Have you made any changes to the Computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to check rename the living image file and check if it helps.

1. First, take a copy of the living images on another location before changing the extension of the file.

2. Then right click on the living image, click on Rename.

3. Change the extension of the file name from current to .thm(for example, from imag.jpeg to imag.thm).

4. If you are asked for administrator permission. Then click on Ok.

5. Try to copy the file back to Lumia phone and check if you are able to play the living image.
