Empty partition showing up in Windows Explorer

    Hi,

Local Disk (Flocal disk f :) usually appears when you've inserted a flash drive to your computer. For us to determine what is causing the issue, we'd like to know if Local Disk (Flocal disk f :) suddenly appears after installing Windows updates? Can you also provide a sample screenshot
    of the issue?

In the meantime, we suggest rebooting your computer to check if Local Disk (Flocal disk f :) will disappear.

We're looking forward to your reply.

Do you have a USB drive, network drive or SD card inserted?

That could be a folder on a networked drive.

That may be a System or Reserved partition. It is quite small or a small percentage of the total size of the HDD. I don't let that bother me as it has no impact upon the overall storage of data.

According to your picture it is not a Drive but a Partition on the only HDD/Hard Disk Drive in the computer. Windows may prevent you from deleting but you might right-click it and see if you can remove/unassign the drive letter F: for it. Again, Windows may not let you do that. And again, it's such a small partition it shouldn't be a problem if left alone. I guess one could save all their data and do the clean install of the OS choosing to clean the drive completely but 1 or more of the partition will return, just the way Windows does things.

Please post a full screen shot of File Explorer showing the drive, folders, and network

then post a 2nd screen shot after clicking on Network in the left pane

Your Disk Mnmgt shows that it F is not assigned to a HDD, so it looks to me as a network drive

There's a tutorial to remove Network from File Explorer, but that doesn't explain the issue.

A simple question: Do you have any devices configured on a network? Could be a printer, a phone, a NAS - anything defined or connected via a local network.

I seem to remember that, on one of my machines, when I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 I had 2 reserved system partitions - the one from the previous OS was still there. Could this be the origin of the mystery 400MB partition. I'd take a screenshot, but all my pcs were clean installed after the upgrade, so only have 1 reserved partition.

    It's only a tiny % of the drive - I'd ignore it.
