Windows 10: local disk z

    Solved... at least for me.

    I tried some of the other suggested methods to get rid of "local disk (z) with no success.

    However, a simple System Restore to an earlier version removed the mystery disk Z: completely.

    local disk z

    You can open disk management by right clicking on the start menu. There you can see all your storage devices and you should be able to locate drive z and remove it.

    Disks with names from the end of alphabet are usually mapped network drives. Right click on it and see, if there is "disconnect" choice.

    If the drive isn't listed in Disk Management but it is listed in This PC then it is a mapped network drive. Right click This PC and choose Disconnect Network Drive
