Windows 10: Location path when saving a file is: C:>>Users>>Bill%20Smith>>Documents

Location path when saving a file is: C:>>Users>>Bill%20Smith>>Documents but the actual location is C:\Users\Bill Smith\Documents. Once saved the location is correct in File Properties. This has happened after recent updates and is unique to one profile on the computer only. The other profile is fine. Is there a fix for this?

Windows 10 Default Path for Documents - Changing from OneDrive to User location

How do I change the default path definition for "Documents" from my OneDrive location C:\Users\...\OneDrive\Documents

to C:\Users\...\Documents

The default for everything is OneDrive and I don't want that. I want the file explore to point to my local C drive and not the OneDrive start

hi,

I've been having many problems with saving documents from MS Office to my pc.

Because I wanted to be sure that I had the documents safely on my PC, I've been saving them very consciously to "This computer->documents->etc."

But somehow, the saved documents were always incomplete, I was asked constantly about my Windows references when saving etc...

Today I discovered that the file path to "This Computer" for documents and for pictures had changed to the same path as the onedrive file path.

So when checking the file locations on all 'libraries', I found out, that all other folders, like Music, Videos, Downloads are where the are supposed to be (i.e. C:\Users\triho\Music) but for documents and pictures the folder location is somehow "C:\Users\triho\OneDrive\Documenten.
And remenber, this is still under "This Computer" and NOT under the OneDrive location tree.

Now I understand why my files have been keeping getting lost but now to the solution.

When I right click the "documents" folder, go to properties and then to the 'location'-tab, there is the option to select "reset to default setting". When I click, the path changes to "C:\Users\triho\documents", which is good, but then when I apply, I get
an error saying that it is impossible to move the documents folder, because there is already a folder with the same name, that can't be changed.

So how do I get my Windows to do what I Say in stead of doing stuff I didn't ask for and DON't want!?

ANy help would be VERY much appreciated!

 

Windows Explorer chooses strange paths when opening or saving a file

When I want to open or save a file, especially using Word or Excel 2010, sometimes the program will display a folder under My Documents, sometimes C:\Users\Owner\Documents, sometimes Libraries\Documents\Documents. For example, when I just tried to open a
random document via Word, it selected this folder:





I have no idea why it thought I wanted to open a file out of Libraries.

When saving files, I sometimes get similar selections. Sometimes the "path" shown is This PC | Documents and then my list of folders, sometimes This PC | Local Disk (C | Users | Owner | Documents. I realize these paths lead to the same folder but I don't
understand why Explorer seems to choose at random which one to display. More important, I want to know if there's some way I can drive Explorer to pick the one I want--This PC | Documents--and stick to it.

I have specified in both programs' Options | Save | Default File Locations field that the desired location is C:\Users\Owner\Documents, which is yet another way of identifying the same location.
