Windows 10: Lock and login screen background is a flat blue color, and my attempts to enable Windows...

Hi, the background on my lock and login screen has been a simple blue color since i first created the account Despite my preview window in the settings showing that there should be an image as background, not that blue color, and i want to change it to using Windows Spotlight to get some actual images there. However when i try and switch the background settings from "image" to "windows spotlight" then the change isn't applied and if i reopen the settings window then it has reverted back to its original setting. The option to get facts and such on the login screen is also not saved if i try to enable it.


Disabling the option that makes the lock screen and login screen use the same image, and then manually changing the background image in the settings from whatever default image it chose will make the image appear properly on the lock screen, but the login screen will still have a flat blue color as its background image and i still can't enable windows spotlight.


Rebooting and updating windows has not made any improvements. Any help with making my background images work properly would be highly appreciated!

Reminder, i am NOT referring to the login screen. There is a regedit i have tried that people suggest, creating DWORD 'DisabledLogonBackground', and changed it to "1". Then go to Colors in settings and choosing accent color. This DOES NOT work, this changes
the background color of the Login Screen.

I see questions just like mine and all of Windows Employees and Independent Contractors are getting confused and giving us directions to change the Login Screen background.

 

How to change sign-in screen (NOT lock screen) background?

Yes you can change the sign-in screen background.

Change the Login Screen Background on Windows 10.

Follow these simple steps below together with these screenshots

Step 1: Head over to your Settings and then
Personalization.

Step 2: Once you’re here select the Lock screen tab and enable the
Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen option.

If you want to change the background of your sign in screen then you can do that.

All you have to is just:

Step 1: Do you see that Windows Spotlight option? Yeah that gives you all the spectacular background images from various beautiful places in the world.

You can also select Picture or Slideshow if you want your own family photos, or pictures that you simply want to cherish each day by using it as your background on your Windows 10.

Do note that the image that you select here will appear as both your lock screen background and your sign in background.

If you instead want to go with a flat color rather than a background image itself then follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Go ahead and disable the Show lock screen background picture on the sign in screen.

Step 2: Once you have done that, head over to your Settings, then
Personalization, and then finally Colors.

You can try and experiment with these three options and see what you like.

Close all open windows, restart the computer once and then login to the computer to check if that helps.
