Lock screen broken after new update, requires hard reboot ever time.

Hey guys, I have been having a pretty major dilemma with my computer. So basically:
A few days ago (January 11, 2018), I downloaded the new windows update (forget the name every time *Sad ). It was initially working out quite well. Fast forward to like four o' clock, when I leave home for a few hours. I then come back to my computer, awakening it from its sleep, and then the lock screen is utterly broken. It appears as a white screen with red and green (maybe blue too???) lines running to and fro. My cursor as well appeared as a jumbled mess of black pixels. I have been dealing with this dilemma for the past few days (today is January 16 2018 at time of writing), and I have had no luck searching for help. If you have any knowledge of what is happening, or can offer help, then please offer it, that will be wonderful.
EDIT: Oh, forgot to include this, but I have tried a malwarebytes scan (probably at January 12, 2018), but it did not come up with anything important.

    :)

  2. Latest Windows Phone update 3 breaks Lumia 920! Not cool!

I've been to the AT&T mobile device service center 3 times this week, getting new handsets, because the latest update that is being pushed to AT&T Lumia 920 phones is causing lock screen issues, disabling the touch altogether, and eventually not even going
away after a hard reset (rebooting with volume down & lock buttons).

I'm absolutely convinced the update caused this, as I used my 920 for 10 months without EVER experiencing this lock screen error, or any loss of touch functionality at all. But updating handsets three times this week, the issue always starting happening
after allowing the handset to install the update.

This is a problem that bricks the phone. You won't even be able to do the regular power-off action, as even that requires you to slide down the lock screen to turn off.

I really would like to know more information about this, and get some official word. As it stands, AT&T can only suggest that you not install the update, and Nokia customer service pretends that I'm the first and only person to report this issue (which I
find extremely hard to believe since I've been dealing with it for days now).

Anyone else experienced this, or have any info about it? For now, I'm sticking with my third phone of the week, and absolutely NOT installing the update until I hear further word on this problem.

  3. how to change screen time out setting in Windows 10

after selecting lock screen there are no screen time out for windows 10. I understand it is pretty much hardwired and requires a change in the hard to manage settings in the registers.

Can you get into safe mode to see if it’s happening there too?
Tbh it sounds more like a graphics card or screen problem to me.

Safe mode... Yeah, seems like a great idea to try. You do that with F7 or F8 on the startup screen... right?
Also, the idea that it could be a graphics card/screen issue seems probable, however I wouldn't know what would happen to the graphics card to make it happen. Oh also I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but when I boot up my computer, it does not happen. Only when my computer wakes up from sleep mode. I'll get a pic of the error soon too.

Okay, I tried out safe boot and it kind of worked? The thing with that is every time I turned it off and on, it treated it as deep sleep (or whatever its called). An quirk about it (and kind of when I boot on my computer) is that there was a short loading thingy (with the blue background). Also, audio and WiFi didn't work in safe boot, so yeah.

Ahhhh! But now you know that some driver or program you're loading after boot-up is related to your issue. Since the graphics card is already a suspect, please tell us what kind you've got and what driver version you're running. Recently many people using older AMD (and even some Nvidia) graphics cards have had to roll back their drivers to older/earlier versions to restore Win10 to operational condition. It's looking a bit more likely now that this might be the case for you, too. So please: tell us more!
    Thanks,

Ah, thank you! Let me check the graphics card and drivers I have!
Okay, so according to Device Manager, I have an Intel HD Graphics 520 Display adapter (It says its the render on the DirectX Diagnostic Tool), along with a AMD Radeon R5 M335 renderer.
Also according to the DIrectX Diagnostic tool, the driver for the intel display is:
    igdumdim64.dll,igd10iumd64.dll,igd12umd64.dll version 22.20.16.4771
And the driver for the Radeon render is:
    aticfx64.dll,aticfx64.dll,aticfx64.dll,amdxc64.dll, version 15.200.1045.0
(For some reason it says the date for this is some time in June 2015 :/ )
So yeah, I guess that's the info I have obtained!
And thank you for the help, EdTittel, I really appreciate it!

Okay, this is a really late reply, but have any clue on how to downgrade/reinstall a driver or something? Or do you thing an update will fix it (windows patch when, Microsoft?!) But yeah, I kind of adapted to the bug, but now I feel a need to fix it, once and for all I guess.

As with so many other questions here, we have a tutorial for that. Please check out: Roll Back Driver to Previous Version. If the rollback option is greyed out, or this doesn't work, please post again and we can discuss how (and where) to find older drivers that may work when newer ones mess up your system.

Hmm, that's weird. seems like roll back driver is grayed out. Also on events there seems to be nothing before January 12th, the day it got messed up.
EDIT: seems like it cam update, and there is an update available, i guess ill try it out. Hopefully it isn't the thing that apparently rendered some radeons inoperable...
