Windows 10: Lock screen on start up

Earlier in the afternoon my fiancé was using the laptop it was working fine. Went to get on the laptop this evening and it’s asking for a password or pin number and we’ve tried everything that we know of when it comes to pin numbers or passwords and cannot get past our initial boot up screen. When we first set this up back in November we did not know we were supposed to make a drive for times like this is there a way to get past the lock screen to reset it if there is anything that can be done please help us

Lock Screen Image Issue

I would suggest you to set the default pictures as the Lock Screen picture from the PC and check if it works or not.

Follow the steps below:

• In start type "settings" and press enter.
• Select Personalize
• From the left click on "Lock screen"
• Select the default picture and conform by preview.

Changing lock screen photos

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>Personalization.
• In the left navigation pane, click on Lock screen.
• In the right pane, select Pictures from the drop down list under
  Background.
• Select the picture from the list or click on Browse to select your saved images and set as lock screen image.

Setting the timeout for Lock Screen

• Press Windows + I and select personalization.
  
• Select Lock screen.
  
  
• Select the Screen Timeout setting.
  
• Select the time of timeout you need and check.
