Windows 10: Locked Keyboard- Sticky Keys

I thought my keyboard was locked. It made a little noise every time I pressed a key and would not allow me to use the keyboard. I was all over these message boards and uninstalled my keyboard and reinstalled, restarted, tried to do a software update whole other issue for another day. Finally realized the keys worked if I depressed them for a few seconds. Yay. Now I know my problem but how to fix it? So back to the message boards I go, and found someone with the exact same issue, but no resolution in the comments- just a "thanks, I fixed it". Wow, that is infuriating. So for those of you look

When sticky keys turned on the keyboard locks

new laptop; if sticky keys are turned on the keyboard locks; sticky keys are turned off the keyboard works

on ancient laptop there is not a problem.

If the computer beeps while you are typing, Toggle keys and/or Sticky keys are active. The Toggle Keys can emit a beep when the Lock keys are pressed. The Sticky Keys function can emit a beep when the Ctrl, Alt, Shift, and Lock keys are pressed. Use the
following steps to disable Toggle Keys:

1. Type Ease into the Start Search field and select Ease of access
from the populated list.

2. Scroll down the page and select Make the keyboard easier to use.

3. If selected, remove the selection from Turn on Sticky Keys.

4. Click Set up Sticky keys.

5. Remove the selection from Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times
and click Save.

6. Remove the selection from Turn on Toggle Keys.

7. If selected, remove the selection from Turn on Toggle Keys by holding down the NUM LOCK key for 5 seconds
and click on Save.

Additionally, I would also suggest you to follow the below steps and check if changes to the keyboard properties helps to resolve the issue.

1. Right click on the Start Menu and select Control Panel.

2. Click on Keyboard to open Keyboard properties.

3. Check if the provided options are set to your preference.

• Set Repeat Delay to long.
• Set Repeat rate to fast.

sticky keys

Hi,

Sticky keys dialog box appears when you have press the Shift key five times continuously. It also lets you use the Shift, Ctrl, ALT, or Windows Logo keys by pressing one key at a time. You can set up Sticky Keys from the Ease of Access Center on the Control
Panel. Follow the steps below:

• Press the Shift key five times.
• Once the dialog box appear, click the Go to the Ease of Access Center to disable keyboard shortcut link.
  
• It will open the Set up Sticky Notes window in the Control Panel.
• Uncheck Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times option.
• You can also set the settings to your desired option.

After doing so, check if the same pop-up will appear while playing the game.
