Windows 10: Locked out after incorrect PIN

My son accidentally entered the PIN wrong on our Acer laptop and it has locked us out. It tells us to enter the Challenge Phrase A1B2C3 then gives us the chance to enter the PIN. Upon doing this and it is DEFINITELY the correct PIN this time! we are met with the error ‘this sign in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns. Use a different sign-in option or keep your device powered on for at least 2 hours and then try again’.There are no alternative sign-in options available apparently if there are we should see an option below where we enter the PIN but th

Log-in Pin is incorrect after Anniversary update


I had the same issue after my update on Windows 10. I knew that my pin hadn't changed but it was saying it was incorrect. So I said that I forgot my pin and it started going through the steps to reset the pin entered my regular password and when the window popped up to set a new pin I said cancel and then I chose the option to set my pin later. I exited the screen, logged off logged back in, and set up a new pin which happened to be the same pin I had before and it worked. If this still doesn't work I can show step by step screen shots if you need. I have a surface 3 with Windows 10 fully updated 10.0.14393.0

 

Entered an Incorrect PIN too Many Times

Here are your options:

• Enter the correct PIN
• Click "Login options" then log in with your password
• Wait until the timeout that you see on the screen has expired
• Log on with the spare admin account that you wisely created some time ago, same as you had a spare key cut for your house.
