    Locked out of laptop cannot reset pin


    I cannot access my computer because I keep receiving you have entered an incorrect pin too many times. I keep getting the challenge phrase. I enter it but no option to login with my user ID and password nor can I reset my pin. I am totally locked out of my laptop. I can access my windows account on my phone. Please help!

    Hi Dyari,

    Thanks for your answer.

    I tried steps of both links:

    • #1: reset PIN code
      • I see no link "reset your PIN"on login page --> I can't reset it
    • #2: change or reset windows password
      • My Windows account is not displayed at all on login page.
      • I am using a local account
    If you have any other suggestion, I would be more than happy to try.

    Windows PIN locked out - unable to reset

    This did not solve my problem.

    When setting up my new PC, I originally had a PIN and a Password to log onto my PC.

    However, I incorrectly entered the PIN too many times and remember seeing some sort of system error message that I had been permanently locked out from my PIN. Whenever I follow the steps to reset the PIN, the PIN will not reset.

    I can only log on using my Password now.

    This is a brand new PC. If this cannot be solved, I plan to return my PC for a refund.
