Windows 10: Locked out of local account on desktop

I turned on my home desktop which had only ever used a local account yesterday and saw 2 account sign in choices. I was suspicious of being hacked so tried to add a picture icon to my local account. Once set windows asked me to create a sign in password. I immediately chose the option to not require sign in and use the local account as my son plays games on the comp while I'm at work and I want a family accessible computer. Now when I go to turn on my comp it asks me for a password, when I enter the password created yesterday it says there is a password error. I cannot log in to windows. I als

Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are

• Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
• No Internet connection during the install
• static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)

 

Locked out of local account

If your local account in Windows 10 got locked out, it’s possible that the Caps Lock was enabled when you typed in your password or there are some special characters that are entered accidentally.



To isolate your concern, we’d like to know if there were any changes or
updates made on your computer prior to the issue that you’re having with signing in to Windows.

Also, have you tried rebooting your computer if it will resolve the issue? How did it go?

In case that you’re getting the same result, then the next step would be
resetting your Windows 10 local account password.

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.
