Windows 10: Locked out of my computer, I need a BitLocker recovery key. When I do not have an account

Has anyone experienced a computer shutdown after a recent upgrade of Windows 10? My screen is asking for a BitLocker recovery key and I do not have an account with BitLocker. Microsoft is telling me that I need to contact HP because HP set the encryption to protect the harddrive. HP is telling me that it is a Microsoft issue since it was linked to the upgrade. I just need my computer back so that I can teach remotely.

2. Did you ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key on your computer?
3. Are you not able to login to your Microsoft Account to find the BitLocker Recovery Key?
4. Are you using Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Professional?

Meanwhile, try finding BitLocker Recovery Key if you have ever setup BitLocker Recovery Key for your computer.

Just to confirm, are you being asked for a Bitlocker recovery key from the lock screen after booting PC? If not, where are you exactly being asked for a Bitlocker recovery key?

Also, are you the only person that has an account on your device? Have you already done any troubleshooting steps to try to resolve the issue? If yes, what are these troubleshooting steps?

We understand your concern as the PC is locked with BitLocker and you are unable to retrieve the BitLocker Recovery key from your Microsoft account.



In this situation, we would first suggest you to set the PC to default BIOS settings.



If you still get the option for BitLocker recovery key, then we would suggest you to refer the below article for managing the security info on your Microsoft account and later retrieve the recovery key.
