Locked out of new PC bc of “screentime limit”

I just logged into my new PC and as I was trying to purchase my microsoft license it immediately locked me out after logging into my microsoft account. The screen said I had reached my screentime limit, which should not have been set. I tried leaving my family group in order to bypass this, but the screentime limit still appeared and now I am unable to request for more time or log in. Additionally, I am unable to figure out how to troubleshoot as when I click shift F10, it does nothing. I am unsure of what to do from here.

    :)

  2. Family Safety - Child account remains unlocked after screentime limit reached

Thank you John; I appreciate the feedback. I have tried all the options on that link you suggested to no avail (1. check for the latest Windows update, 2. reboot, 3. ensure child is standard user, 4. ensure that child is signed into their account).

I have actually sat and watched as the screentime limit elapsed and there was no timeout on the child's device. After giving it a few minutes, I got on the device and confirmed he was logged into his MS account and not mine. Puzzlingly, there have been (inconsistent) instances when he does correctly get the "Ask for more time" prompt, but this does not align with the prescribed screentime limits. Furthermore, if he restarts the device, he's able to successfully log-back on as if the limit was not reached.

To be clear, I've used both the website and the app version to manage screen limits. I've deleted, then reset the time limits. But frequently, as I mention above, I will actually watch him on the device exceed the time limit without lockout. One possibility is a timezone misalignment; however, I've check both the child's device (Windows 11) and my own (Windows 10) and both are set to the proper time zone. Oddly, there no longer seems to be the ability to adjust this on the Microsoft account level (only Windows).

Other suggestions would be much appreciated. Joe

Microsoft Family does not limit my sons time on his computer

I have got Microsoft Family on my sons computer. I have set screentime limits. I have not set any app limits yet. The PC runs Windows 10.

Every day I get "your son would like more screen time". Only ONCE has it ever locked him out. He has limits of 3 hours per day on the computer. At the end of the week I get the very nice report as to how much time he has spent on his computer. It suggests
that screentime for last week was 110 hours.

So how is that possible on 3 hours per day? It's not. The system just DOES NOT work.

    Regards,

    Simon

Locked out of new PC bc of “screentime limit”

Overall screentime not correponding to sum of individual app

I am looking at today's screentime report.
the overall reported screentime is 2h15m

however, if I look at individual apps, I see:

    2:11 chrome

fortnite - reached time limit (45')

    whatsapp : 13

    youtube : 7

    plus few others.

simply wrong, or I am missing something about the logic?
perhaps the apps with their own time-limit are not calculated in the overall screentime?
