Windows 10: Locking down a Windows10 machine

I'm in need of a little assistance. I've been given the task of locking down a Windows 10 production machine that is shared by a number of users. They are constantly installing questionable software and abusing the network connection. So here's what I'm looking at:

There are 2 accounts on the machine, both of which have administrator privs. The first account is *very* important and all files/settings need to be preserved and the password is known. The other administrator account was used by an old employee who no longer works for the company, the password is unknown but there are no files/settings that need to be preserved in this account.

Here's my thinking:

(1) Create a new account with administrators privs

(2) Delete the old employee administrators account (unknown password)

(3) Change the first account (with the known password) to a standard user (via the account created in step 1

(4) Use the group policy editor to remove the ability to install software



Will this at least lock the machine down without too much disturbance?

Lock Screen not showing in Windows10 Pro

We have installed Windows10 (1809)in our domain environment. Every thing is working fine except lock screen. Can you please suggest how can we fix lock screen.

Same lock screen showing in Windows 7.

Kindly suggest.

 

PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval

• Install system in case
  • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
• Turn on PC
• setup HDD
• run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
  • run realtemp at the same time

• While in Prime95 test
  • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
  • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
  • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!

What do you guys think??

To troubleshoot your issue, we suggest doing these following troubleshooting methods:

Method 1

• Turn off your PC.
• Press and hold Shift then turn on your PC.
• Wait for the setup (set up fixes the problem automatically).

Method 2

• Create a media creation tool by following the steps in this
  link.
• Select your preferred installation option and wait for the process to finish.
