    Logfiles take 629.9 MB on my C: drive - can they be deleted?


    I just discovered that *.log files take up 629.9 MB on my c: drive. My c: drive is only for Windows, installed programs, and related config data, for a total of 128 GB. All my real data is on drives d: and e:.

    I used a combination of JAM Software Treesize Free and Ultrasearch.

    • Total are 2,206 total log files.
    • Biggest single file is 81.5 MB, in C:\PROGRAMS\Windows\Panther.
    • There are 60 files of 1 MB or larger.
    • 77 files were created since I last booted up my system on Jan 04.
    • For all of 2019, with backups 2X a week, my backup software backed up 13,446 files for a total of 10.6GB.

    If I need to do a restore of my c: drive, do I really need all these log files?

    For normal Windows usage, do I really need all these log files?

    - that's an odd path?

    Seems a lot of log files- on C: I have 594, largest 44Mb- most of the largest are related to security software. Below those they are <3Mb

    The log files are non-mission critical as far as I know.
