Windows 10: Logged in as a parent, want to see how much time my child has left

First - I've seen many people with the same question, and from what I've seen of the responses, the experts never actually answer this question.


I want to know the exact steps to view at any time, through my parent account, how much time my child currently has left of screen time. His account seems to be mysteriously consuming time and we can't track where it's going, so I need finer controls to understand. I don't want to wait for the fifteen minute warning or for him to do anything - I want to see at any time how much of his time allotment he has used for the day. There is no way I can see on the parent account to view this. Nor does there seem to be a way to simply add time for the day without adjusting the total amount allotted.


I'm not a newbie - I am a product guy in fintech.


Please provide a step by step answer how to show this information.

Can’t log into child account

Hi Sheila,

It is possible that you're trying to login the child account using the parent device or computer. To properly isolate this issue, we'd like to ask some questions:

• Are you trying to log into the child account using the child's device or computer?
• Have you tried removing the child account from the family account and add it again?
• Have you tried logging in the child account to other computer to check if the credentials are correct?

Screen Time - No more option for child to request more time from parents

Since upgrading to Windows 10, my child on longer is given the option to ask for more time when their Screen Time is up for the day. On Windows 8.1 when the time expired they were given 2 options 1) log off or 2) request more time, which in turn would give
them options to 1) email parent or 2) if parent is present, select parent account and enter password.

Now on Windows 10, they get a message there time has expired, followed by the text, "Try logging in on 11/04/1015 (being the date of the next day) at 12:00am or ask your parent for more time." and the option is a button with text reading "log off or turn
off computer."

I have looked everywhere on Family Safety, but no luck finding any mention of how to allow my child to ask a parent for more time.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

If you are talking about my family then you don't add the parent to the child account you add the child to the parent account. First go to windowsphone.com and sign in using the parent account, then in the top right corner click my family, there should
then be steps on how to activate my family and how to add the children.
