  1. Logged out of the system after an update from windows and lenovo. Can't get into safe mode....

Yesterday I installed some updates both lenovo and windows. When my computer restarted it says 'the pin is no longer available due to chang in to the security settings on this device. Click io setup your PIN again'. I click this option and waited for several minutes and no further prompts or option. I am logged out of my own system since last evening. My fingerprint doesn't work unless I set up my pin. There is no third login option in my old computer with windows 10 it used to have a password option too. I am using windows 11 version 23H2 or 24H2 don't exactly remember. Communicate answer

    :)

  2. Can't log into Safe Mode

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

The issue you're encountering is particularly tricky, especially since you've already gone through some of the more common troubleshooting steps, such as running System File Checker (sfc /scannow) and the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool (DISM). Given that your computer behaves normally during shutdown, it suggests the system is not entirely frozen, but rather experiencing input-related issues. Here's a more detailed approach to diagnosing and potentially fixing the problem:

    • Disconnect peripheral devices: Unplug all unnecessary external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, printers, etc.) except for the keyboard and mouse. Then try restarting in Safe Mode again. This is to rule out any device conflicts.
If you can access Safe Mode with Networking:

    • Update drivers: Try updating the drivers for your keyboard and mouse. Although in Safe Mode, only essential drivers are loaded, an update or reinstallation could resolve the issue.
      • Go to Device Manager > Locate the keyboard/mouse driver > Right-click and select Update driver.
      • If updates don't help, you can also try Uninstall device. Restart your computer afterwards, and Windows will attempt to reinstall the drivers.
    • Run an antivirus scan: It's a good idea to run a full system scan using your antivirus software. Malware or other malicious software could potentially cause the issues you're experiencing.
    • Perform System Restore: If you have System Restore enabled, try reverting your system back to a point before the issue started occurring. This can often fix unexpected system behavior without affecting personal files.
      • To perform a System Restore, you'll need to access the Advanced Startup Options. You can usually access this by restarting your PC while holding the Shift key, then navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
    • Review system logs: The Event Viewer can provide valuable insights into what might be going wrong. After booting into Safe Mode, open Event Viewer and check the System and Application logs for any error messages or warnings that coincide with your attempt to log in.
      • Press Windows key + R, type eventvwr.msc, and press Enter to open Event Viewer.
    • Create a new account in Safe Mode: If possible, try creating a new user account from Safe Mode. If this new account works without issues, there might be a problem with your original user profile.
      • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type net user /add [username] [password] and net localgroup administrators [username] /add to create a new administrative account.

Thank you for your patience and understanding! If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know.

  3. Password not accepted in Safe mode

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

Have you tried all the above steps suggested by Sangeeta Sarkar on September 13, 2015.

I would suggest you to provide some information to help you better.

    • Are you trying to login the Microsoft account or the Local account in safe mode?
    • Did you try with only safe mode or safe mode with networking?
    • What is the critical error you are getting?

If you are using Windows 10. To go to safe mode you have to follow the below steps.

If you are able to go to login screen in normal mode try the below steps to go to safe mode with networking.

    • At the login screen click on the power symbol.

    • Hold SHIFT + Click Restart.

    • After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.

    • Select advanced options under
      Troubleshoot screen.

    • Click on Startup Settings.

    • Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to
Safe Mode with networking and check if you are able to login.

    [*]
Please get back with more information, we will be glad to help you further.

Stuck in safe mode in windows 10

Safe mode is intended to help fix most, if not all problems within an operating system, it's not good if we got stuck on it. To correct this, we suggest that you follow the steps below to exit out of Safe mode:

    • Open Run command by pressing Windows key + R
keys on the keyboard and type msconfig in the command box and press
      Enter.
    • Under General tab, put a check on Normal Startup option.
    • Reboot the system and check if the changes are effective.

Let us know if you are able to exit out of Safe mode with these steps.
