I'm stick on the below screen. My keyboard and mouse will not respond. I don't get a login prompt. The time is correct and the little icon in the bottom right indicates if my Ethernet cable is connected.

I had Window 7. I used the microsoft provided upgrade to install windows 10. The process seemed to have completed successfully. I was able to get a login prompt once and successfully logged in. I opted to not send any information to microsoft at the initial propts. I got to my desktop, everything seemed to be working ok. I thought there were a few startup apps I didn't need in my tray. So I turned off auto startup on login for OneDrive, Skype, and my logitech camera. I restarted and now I get stuck at this screen.

The time updates correctly over time, its not frozen. I can plugin/unplug the Ethernet cable and the little icon in the bottom right will change to indicate if it has internet. I can press the power button on my computer and it correctly interprets that as a shutdown command and it gracefully shuts down.

My mouse/keyboard wont work. They used to work fine. I am able to use the mouse/keyboard in my BIOS with out a problem. However the moment the system starts to load, the lights on my keyboard and mouse go out and they become unresponsive. I tried various combinations of pluging the USB keyboard/mouse into different ports. I tried using different mouses and keyboards. I tried disabling legacy USB support in the BIOS. Nothing helps.

I tried getting into safe mode but can't. Most solutions to get into safe mode require your system to already be working correctly. Holding F8 or F8+Shift don't help.

I'm currently installing windows 10 on my lap top so I can try to create a restore disk. Which should then allow me to go into safe mode and try to repair what ever has gone wrong.

My computer is sporting an i7 with 16 gigs of memory. I use a 128gb SSD for my system and have 3 other hard drives for various data storage. No other OS installed. The computer has been functioning fine for the last two years.

I'm a software engineer with 5 years of professional experience and I've been building my own computers.

    :)

  3. Keyboard and mouse not working after reseting of windows 10 to windows 10, stuck at login screen

Hi, thank you for your time,

the keyboard and mouse work fine in advanced options only when I open it through the "repair your computer" in windows 10 installation from my usb. I mean, when I'm trying to get to safe mode through the cmd, it asks again for the login pass and the keyboard
and mouse wont work, that's why I can't click on the ease of access neither.

I cant find the manufacturer and model of the computer, tried through cmd but it shows a blank space.

Login in prompt will not show, keyboard and mouse wont work.

Try powering off the router and then boot.

  5. Thanks for the reply.

I tried booting with out the Ethernet cable plugged in. The computer in question doesn't have wireless or bluetooth cability. It doesn't seem to help.

I just tried booting again with out internet and its the same. The little icon in the bottom right has a red circle with a white X in it.

You are most welcome mate, so if you have experience with previous windows the next step I would try would be to enable the hidden admin account via a cmd from a win 7 disk. Or use a bcd edit to put the menu on boot and try safe mode.

  7. Yeah im trying to get into safe mode by making a recovery disk. Im waiting on windows 10 to finish installing on my lap top.

Ive heard of the admin account but ive never used it. What would i gain by accessing that account?

If i knew what was going wrong i could try to manually fix it but i dont.

Login in prompt will not show, keyboard and mouse wont work.

I doubt you will get in from a 10 disk although I could be wrong, I would boot a windows 7 disk and do a bcd edit to get into safe mode by putting the boot menu on the boot screen or use regedit to enable the admin account. What will you gain from the admin account, no password and may boot into, no promises mate I'm just trying to help you get into your OS one way or another and I know a windows 7 disk works because I have tested it.

Looks like you're stuck on the Lockscreen, you can't get out of it? Usually pressing spacebar or enter will lift it up.

AH! I know what's happening, you are using a USB KB or Mouse? When it gets to the Lockscreen, unplug your KB and Mouse and then plug them back in right away, they'll start working.

This happened to me the 1st day I had Win10 installed, if happened a few times and eventually it stopped after all of my drivers were updated. But I'm positive you have the same thing happening,

check your Mouse, if the red light is NOT on, unplug it and plug it back in.

Are you using legacy USB input devices? Cos mine are really old, ancient MS USB Infrared mouse. My KB was OK cos it's a PS-2 KB.

  12. I'll try the admin account and safe mode.

I tried pressing every key on my keyboard and mouse to get something to pop up, nothing happens. The little red lights on my Logitech gaming mouse are not powered. The caps lock key on my keyboard wont turn on either. They are both USB devices. I also tried a separate set of keyboard/mouse through a USB wireless dongle, only a few years old. Didn't help.

I don't think that any of my devices would qualify as 'legacy' usb devices.

If you need any guidance tell me I will give you the commands you need, you just said you were a professional so I assumed you knew what I was talking about.

I guess not, but they are not being detected. Just unplug the KB. and plug it right back in, it should start working.

If not, then find another KB and use that. My system would not load the mouse until I unplugged it and plugged it back in, but in order for Windows to load the drivers, it has to get past that screen. So try any other KBs you have, safe mode is not going to help cos the drivers still have to load, or possibly be downloaded. If you have a PS-2 KB input, try a PS-2 KB, that will get you past this, after a few reboots your system will have the right drivers loaded and this will stop.

If your KB and Mouse are IR, there should be a connect button that connects them to their base station, check that too. You may just have to find a cheapy KB and mouse to get you past this, once the Logitech drivers are installed, then they will work every time.

I don't mean to be nasty mate but you have 110 posts and not 1 reputation point to thank you to say you actually helped anyone, I think you could be potentially dangerous from your delusional knowledge of windows systems.
