Login issues after deleting old versions

A couple days ago I realized I had about 135 GB of restore points (an excessive amount in my opinion) which I deleted and lowered the limit of how much data could be used for restore points. Before figuring out what was using so much of my hard drive space, I deleted older versions of Windows (my laptop originally had Windows 8 / 8.1 installed so I assumed those would be deleted and had no problem with that).

Today, as I'm trying to login, there is no login prompt box. I keep restarting trying to engage safe mode but I have not had success with shift+restart, shift+F8, or hard restart 3x. Can anyone help with either 1) starting in safe mode, or better yet 2) getting the login prompt box back?

    Thanks.

    :)

  2. Deleting old versions of window 8.1 files after update to window 10

    Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

Please be informed that Windows. Old and old Operating System files will be deleted after a grace period of 30days automatically. In case you need to roll back to previous Operating System, you can do that within 30days, by deleting those folders
you will lose the option of rolling back to previous Operating System.

Also be informed that it is not recommended to delete any of the driver files as it might affect the devices associated to work with them.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

Deleting old versions of window 8.1 files after update to window 10

    1) Would it be wise to delete the older versions of windows on my drive before the 1 month of the scheduled deletion of the files anyway

    2) do i need four of the same nvidia audio drivers ,8 processor drivers of the exact same type for a quad core ,and various other drivers which are exactly the same type does it matter

    Thanks ad

Yea, I deleted Windows.old files. Nothing I found online said it would cause problems, only that I wouldn't be able to revert back. Was there something in there those files that I shouldn't have deleted?

Its a bit strange as normally windows wont let you remove those files as they are system you have to go via diskclean to remove them

Login issues after deleting old versions

So, a login prompt finally appeared. Took about 10-15 minutes, which seems a bit long. Was able to log in.
