Windows 10 Login Login Screen Password/Pin Input Field Won't Accept Any Keystroke

The problem has never happened before. Today when I boot my PC, the password field won't accept any keystroke from my keyboard. Both my keyboard and mouse are working, and they are not the problem. I even able to bring up the password field from the welcome
screen with keyboard. The problem lies in the input field for password/pin.

    What I've tried, but didn't work :

    1. Use virtual keyboard (from Ease of Access menu). The keystrokes from virtual keyboard also didn't register into the password field

    2. Start in safe mode. The login screen in safe mode also didin't work.

    3. Trying to use system restore. This one is particularly weird. When I access the recovery menu, I have to input my password in order to use the system restore.
The password field in recovery login also didn't work. Thus I can't even access system restore.

Any help/idea/suggestion is appreciated. Also, I'm somewhat a power user, so don't worry about technicalities. I will understand you.

P/s : This scenario made me appreciate Linux even more. At least if anything happened in the GUI, I can figure it out at the terminal login/output. Now I can't even figure out why the input field can't even register any keystrokes

  3. Changed my Microsoft account password but windows login keeps accepting old password

    Hi,

I have a Microsoft account (to be specific, it's a Passport account. I created it with a gmail account) and I recently changed my password and activated two-step verification with Microsoft Authenticator app.

The new password works perfectly in any web page, but doesn´t work when I try to login in my notebook. Windows login keeps accepting old password, and doesn´t accept the new one.

Am I doing something wrong or this is some kind of bug?

    Thanks.

login password field doesn*t accept any input

Windows 10 Login Login Screen Password/Pin Input Field Won't Accept Any Keystroke

    • My PC is a custom built one with various parts from different vendors
    • There were no error message, and EventViewer didn't record anything wrong with the system
    • Obviously I tried restarting several times (plus to get into recovery & safe mode) but none of them worked
    • I'm using a wireless mouse, but replaced it with wired one. Still didn't work. Both mouse were working as intended. The same case with keyboard. I had the same problem even with another set of mouse & keyboard. This is clearly not caused by hardware issue.
    • Connecting with different USB port yielded the same result.

I found a temporary solution to log in (but the problem is still there)

I clicked "forgot my password", and when a window pop up, I canceled (clicked the 'x' button). After I returned to the login page, the password input field did accept keystrokes, and I was able to log in. Unfortunately on my fault, there were no system restore
point created prior to this, so that solution is out of the window. I added a "login by photo method" just to be on the safe side, and then rebooted.

The problem still persist. Luckily since I had the option to log in by photo, I can still log in (the password field is still not accepting any keystrokes though).

Any help from this point would be very appreciated. Since recovery menu still require user's password to be typed, I have to fix this issue., especially for booting the OS in safe mode. I really hope that reformating would be the very last
resort, since this installation is quite fresh, and I can't afford to go through the trouble of setting up everything again.

    Sorry for the long post
