    Hi all,


    Yesterday I had a keyboard error. Started the laptop in safe mode but was unaware that I would need to use my Microsoft password, rather than the usual login pin.


    I have no idea what that password is, I have tried everything I can think of but with no success.


    I tried to access it via the password recovery system but was rejected for not providing enough detail. I entered everything I knew, so I really can't provide more.


    I live in a VERY rural area of Colombia. No WiFi, not enough cell service to hot-spot my laptop, so resetting the password entirely is not an option if the laptop is required to have online access.


    I'm now completely locked out if the system as the normal login password doesn't seem to be working when I restart the laptop maybe the computer is stuck in safe mode, I'm not sure.


    Can anyone please help me get back into the system? I have a deadline coming up and without access to my laptop I'm in a very difficult situation.

    Hi,

    For us to isolate the issue, we will need to ask you a few questions:

    • Are you getting any error messages aside from password incorrect?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far, after being stuck in safemode sign in screen?
    • What are you trying to do when you enter safemode with networking through msconfig?

    Networking in Safemode

    I tried uninstalling and re-installing the adapter and it didn't work. I tried another suggestion I found doing a search. They suggested to click on the Network Icon before booting in to Safemode and connecting to the adapter. The only thing listed was Airplane mode. I guess Windows 10 will not initialize a wireless adapter in Safemode.

    Password issue

    After going through the steps to make a new password, after a week or two, my login credentials are no longer valid. I'm forced to make a new password all over again. It seems to happen if I don't login in a certain period of time. Does our passwords expire???
