However, let's look at this from the perspective of hackers and bot users: The chance of guessing a one-time code is extremely low, only 1/1000000, but this is enough for hackers. Imagine, a hundred bots making 100 attempts per day, resulting in 100,000 attempts per day, and a million attempts over ten days, among which there is a certain probability that one attempt will be successful.     In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things:

    • Are you able to login with Microsoft account in web?
    • What happens exactly when you try to login using Microsoft account?
    I suggest you to login to Microsoft account through online login.live.com, if you are able to login to Microsoft account on web then you can reset the password and then try to login and check if the issue persists.

    I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

    Step 1:

    I suggest you to try signing in to account.live.com on another device and verify the account is in a good state.

    Step 2:

    Login in to another user account and try logging in to Windows Store and check.

    If the issue still persist, I suggest you to perform an automatic repair on your computer and check if it helps.

    If you need an installation media, I suggest you to download and create the installation media using the follow Microsoft link, which contains the Windows 10 ISO file.

    Method 1: Automatic Repair.

      • Insert the installation USB and boot Windows 10 from it.
      • In the ‘Windows setup’ page select the ‘language to install’, ‘Time and currency format’ and the ‘keyboard or input method’ and click on ‘next’.
      • Click on ‘Repair your computer’ and select ‘Troubleshoot’.
      • Click on ‘Advanced options’ and select ‘Automatic Repair’ and select the operating system.

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    I suggest you to perform Safe Mode with Networking and then try to change the password.

    Method 1: Safe mode.

    Please follow below steps:


      • Click on power button at left bottom corner, press and hold
        Shift key and click on Restart.

      • Click on Troubleshoot.

      • Click on Advanced options.

      • Click on Startup Settings.

      • Click on Restart.

      • Login to Microsoft Account and create a new administrator account.
    If you’re not able to login using Microsoft account then refer to below steps and check if it helps.

    Method 2:
    Activate Inbuilt Administrator Account.

    Follow the below steps:


      • Click on power button at left bottom corner, press and hold
        Shift key and click on Restart.

      • Click on Troubleshoot.

      • Click on Advanced options.

      • Click on Command Prompt and enter following command.

        net user Administrator /active:yes
    Now reboot your system and login to inbuilt admin account and try to reset password for other account. Once you reset password login to other account and to deactivate inbuilt admin account enter following command in elevated command prompt.

    net user Administrator /active:no
