    Logitech M325 Mouse issue.

    Hi guys.

I'm usually here helping others with solutions, but now I have a problem and completely stumped on finding a solution.

I have a Logitech m325 mouse, and it has been reliable for 3 years on multiple PCs, but now I have a problem that is annoying.

I've used this mouse on an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0, which I still use it on and works great. My wife has an ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 and it works great, and my buddy has an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 and no problems there.

Now here's where I'm stumped. I bought another ASUS M5A97 R2.0 for business use, and I'm having troubles with my mouse on it. When plugged into the rear USB ports, the mouse seems laggy, freezes for a brief second, and jumps around. It don't happen all the time, but happens about 70% of the time. If I plug the receiver in a port on the front, no issues.

I decided to test the rear ports with a wired optical mouse, and a ball mouse. Both USB, and guess what, all ports work properly, and I have no issues with a wired mouse.

I also plugged in a mouse receiver that is logitech, and it's for a keyboard and mouse combo. No issues with the mouse with all USB ports.

Just as a note, that I've had no issues with keyboards, flash drives, or external hard drives.

Can anyone tell me why my m325 mouse is being picky with this particular system, and not with the other systems?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Just to confirm, are you running the command from the desktop? If so,

Right-click Start>Command Prompt(admin) and then type in the commands.

Never mind, I wasn't running as administrator. The uninstall was successful.

    Logitech M325 Mouse issue.

    lmaneke,

I had this exact problem with a Logitech Mouse. m515 specifically. Fine in the front ports, wonky in the rear.

I found that if I put the receiver dongle on an extension thereby moving it a little bit away from the rear panel it worked fine. Some kind of interference from the case metal or the internals I suppose. I don't really know other than it worked.

I've been using it like this for over a year and no further problems. I found a short extension among my cable clutter and it works fine. See attached pic.

  5. Same here, on one PC, when plugged into the back port, my M570 trackball didn't work right. Added an extension, and it worked fine. The one I have is 2 or 3 inches long and came with one of my Logitech devices. I think it was in the box with my T650 Touchpad?

Thanks. I'll give this a try. I do have a few long extensions laying around.

Now that I notice, all of the systems that have no problems, have where the rear I/O ports are flush with the back of the case. The system having issues has the I/O ports about an inch inside of the case, and one 80 mm fan to the side of it. I Think it's a Thermaltake V2 case or something like that.

    I'll post results soon.

Wow guys. Thanks so much. I tried an extension "2 ft, smallest I had", and the mouse works fine.

Funny, of all the years I've built PCs, this is the first one that ever had this problem. Although I'm highly starting to believe this issue may be causes by the case itself.

Just saying, as an observation, that all of my builds with no issues were brand new cases where the power supply is mounted on the bottom. This is a 5 year old case with a top mounted PSU.

Now that I think about it, I have a full ATX case that I threw this board in for testing purposes just to make sure the board worked. If I do recall, I had no issues with the mouse in that case specifically.

And also now that I think about it, this older case had an older AM3 motherboard in it for about 4 years, and I was having problems with the rear USB ports since day 1 with that board. Sometimes they worked, sometimes not.

Makes me wonder if this is why possibly some motherboards fail quickly, and don't last.

I'll mark this thread as solved, but now I may be interested in buying a new case for this system.

Thanks for all of your help.

    Logitech M325 Mouse issue.

Can't help but wonder if it's a Logitech issue. Seems to be the consistent commonality in this thread.

I can confirm the same observation -- namely, that using an extension to the Unifying transceiver -- helps mouse functionality. I started doing this 4-5 years ago when I moved my PC to a baker's rack to the side of my desk. I use an extension that permits a "line of sight" between mouse and transceiver and have since only had problems when my mouse battery is starting to fail.

PS: my primary desktop rig uses an M325, too.

  11. I almost exclusively use Logitech keyboards trackballs etc. It's only ever happened on the 1 PC out of several. I just put it down to the case design blocking the signal somewhat. I do believe on that case the USB ports are recessed a bit. There could be other factors too, desk layout etc. It's not going to ever stop me from buying Logitech products though. *Wink

It's nice to know that I'm not alone and we have had that 1 pc that is a bugger. I've always bought logitech products due to their reliability and longevity.

  13. Logitech M325 Mouse issue.

These day on most cases, you could just plug it in front. If you don't mind a little black wart on the front of your case. *Wink
It's been so long ago when I had this issue that I almost forgot about it. That troublesome case is long gone now. My extension is in my box of extra cables and what not. Just in case I ever need it again
