Windows 10: Logitech Webcam c920 not detected running Dell Desktop XPS 8930 and Windows 10

History of things attempted:


I had this problem and then did manage to get it working but then after re-start the following day it fails again.


-Originally there was intermittent issues and I suspected it was a conflict with my wireless Logitech mouse, so I have a new wired mouse at present. That seemed to help resolve as part of the solution, but was not singularly helpful.

-The things I tried previously with success fail.

-My problem was that in Device Manager there was no entry "Imaging devices". Searching online was where I found the solution which helped point me down the right path.

-The device is not detected by Microsoft Camera, Zoom, Skype or any program.

-I've turned all potentially competing apps off and unplugged, waited for 10-15 sec, then plugged back in to USB 2.0 port.

-I've tried Logitech support, and now they shunt you towards downloading either Capture or Logitech Camera settings - neither help, as Capture hangs and other app never loads because no camera is detected.

-Imaging devices again missing but re-loading it this time was tricker and took a while to discover because the View was set to not Show Hidden Devices, but checking that this time did not lead to any solutions.

-I've again managed to recover the driver, which Microsoft Troubleshooting advises is the latest version and the best to use, but the device does not recognise it. Ant there is a yellow/orange triangle with exclamation mark in it, an error icon that indicates an Error, simply being this device cannot start Code 10, rather obvious but more detail elsewhere adds to this, try upgrading the device drivers. From there I can search online for a driver update but again it advises the best driver is already installed. So that is illogical.

-I've tried adding a device but that goes nowhere as Logitech are not offered as a provider.

-I've re-booted, several times and no change. So it seems things are worse than they were as I can't get the Imaging devices option to show now either.

- Dell Support advises all my drivers are current.

- There is a pending WIndows update so I will go ahead and run that - nothing to lose.

Logitech c920 webcam no longer works.

I use a Logitech c920 webcam with my Dell 5567 laptop.

Setup is Windows 10 version 1709, latest.

After the latest Windows update, when I open the Logitech c920 software interface the webcam is not detected. But if I click on Quick Capture, I can see images but the webcam controls and advanced settings are no longer available. When I open up Preferences,
the microphone setting does not function.

I've already done a complete reinstall, several times, but to no avail.

If I use Skype and select the c920, again the imaging/video works. But also cannot open the c920 webcam settings from within Skype video settings.

Is there a fix for this?

just to add more spookiness, the Settings option in Skype shows that the C920 is being used:





..so it will run as an app from within Skype, but not as a stand-alone program via the Desktop Shortcut
- which is a bit odd..

I uninstalled the XBox App from the Start Screen, just in case the webcam was defaulting to that software,
- but no luck yet.. (??)

 

Logitech c920 Webcam not working

Since the updates to Windows 10 my logitech HD Pro Webcam c920 is no longer recognised by my computer.I have been through weeks of trying to find a solution and none that have been suggested have worked
