Long Path not working and I am unable to rename the files due to it being a shared work Dropbox

Hi team,I cannot access files with long paths on a shared Dropbox which is synced to Windows using the Dropbox app. I have tried all of the below steps to be able to access files within a shared work Dropbox structure. On my previous computer Windows 10, the below steps worked. Since upgrading to a Windows 11 computer, I cannot get the same result.I am unable to rename the files or the folders. They are administered by other staff in my company who use Macbooks and don't have the same issue. These files are in a Dropbox folder and cannot be adjusted, as several others use them. How can I elim

  2. Unable to rename folder or file in a long path folder (updated)

    Hi Greg,

    Thanks for suggesting Feedback Hub.

On the other hand, in my first post I posted step 1,2,3. Your links contains the same, but no more.

The issue is in File Explorer, that means I need solution in File Explorer, not in PowerShell.

To be more precise the issue is: I can't create new folder in a long path folder. Just now: I solved it half: I can copy a folder to a long path folder. That's fine but I cannot rename folder or file in a long path folder.

    Regards

  3. Unable to rename folder or file in a long path folder (updated)

***update 15 APR 2023 the issue is: Unable to rename folder or file in a long path folder

Original post: LONG PATH ISSUE (in Windows 10 File Explorer)

    Hi,

    I'm sorry to write this.

Half of the world suffers from it for many years:

LONG PATH DOES NOT WORK IN Windows 10 File Explorer

"Microsoft Windows has a MAX_PATH limit of ~256 characters. If the length of the path and filename combined exceed ~256 characters you will be able to see the path/files via Windows/File Explorer, but may not be able to delete/move/rename these paths/files."

My question: Is there any PC at Microsoft Corporation where enabling long path works properly? I guess there isn't. But it is a secret, isn't it?

I have done these steps but the issue is still exist:

    1. Check if long path names are enabled in the registry. You can do this by opening the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and navigating to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem. Look for the value "LongPathsEnabled" and make sure it is set to 1.

    2. Check if the group policy setting is configured to enable long path names. Open the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) and navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Filesystem. Look for the "Enable Win32 long paths" policy and make sure it is set to "Enabled".

    3. Restart your computer after making any changes to the registry or group policy settings.

    I have read this:

"...even though Windows 10 is ready for long paths, Windows Explorer is not."

    ( https://www.****/threads/windows-10-allowing-long-file-paths-not-working.865248/ ) (Dec 10 2022)

    What a shame!

I have read this: Maximum Path Length Limitation - Win32 apps

But it has things like xml and "application manifest" which is too much for me to do and the result uncertain.

The issue is not in my PC. The issue is in all Windows.

I ask for an immediate solution from Microsoft.

    Regards

(My Windows version: Windows 10 Pro 21H2 19044.2846)
